Since 1993 Rob has regenerated his love of drawing and painting, first in watercolour then in pastel and oils, developing his skills at Leith School of Art.
The subjects of Rob’s paintings range from figurative landscape and townscape to portraits, still life and the expression of emotions including the abstract. His love of colour is evident in his most recent works. In recent years, he has ventured into sculpture, at the Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, and produced some works in wood and metal, based on cutting and bending sheet materials to produce freestanding forms. These works are suitable for production at any size and were inspired by the work of Alexander Calder.
Rob Moodie studied architecture at Glasgow School of Art and Toronto University, and worked as an architect in Stockholm, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Also qualified in Town Planning, he was County Planning Officer for West Lothian and joined Lothian Regional Council as Deputy Director of Planning retiring in 1993.
