A regular contributer to the Pittenweem Art Festival, John Dunbar was an Award Winner in their 2005 PAF Competition.
Participating in “Modsports” sports car racing and hill climbs during the 1970’s fired his passion for depicting speed in painting motor racing cars and action scenes. Has always painted in oils as it suits his style in being able to drag the paint whilst still wet to express the feeling of speed.
John trained as a draughtsman in marine engineering, and attended Edinburgh College of Art in late 1960, before opting into Architecture and construction. The painting of landscapes is a different challenging pastime.
John is a past President of the SSAA Scottish Society of Architect Artists and regularly exhibits in their annual exhibitions. He has held Solo Exhibitions in Muscat, Oman and at the Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh and has exhibited at Coys Historic Festival in 2000 and Velocity in USA 2008.
